一、课程性质、目的和要求

《高级英语III》是本科英语专业三年级第学期的一门实践课程,是《精读》课程的延续,对员工的听、说、读、写、译等技能提出更高的培养要求,更注重阅读和写作技能的训练,更强调加强员工的创造力, 要求员工从有控制的联系过渡到自然的交际。《高级英语》旨在通过听、说、读、写、译等技能的综合训练,提高员工听觉能力,即席发言、连贯表达、辩论、演讲的技巧与能力,使员工掌握阅读技巧,提高阅读速度、扩大词汇量、培养词义辨析能力;提高归纳、总结主题与写作能力;提高汉英互译的能力,使员工具有较熟练的交际能力。通过本课程的学习,员工应该达到以下要求:

1.听的能力

能听懂题材熟悉、内容广泛、正常语速的英语讲话、广播、演讲等,掌握其中大意,抓住要点和有关细节,领会讲话者的观点和态度,并能进行分析、推理、判断和综合概括。

2.说的能力

能就各种熟悉的话题进行口头交际,能比较自如地表达思想,讲话比较流畅,语音基本正确、语调自然。

3.阅读能力

能顺利阅读语言难度较高、内容广泛、体裁多样的文章,掌握中心大意以及说明中心大意的事实和细节,领会作者的观点和态度,能就文章的内容进行预测、分析、推理、判断的综合概括,能分析篇章结构,阅读速度达到每分钟100词。能顺利查阅和使用工具书、参考书及其他参考资料。在阅读篇幅较长、难度略低、生词不超过总词数3%的材料时,能正确理解中心大意,抓住主要事实和有关细节,阅读速度达到每分钟150词。

4.写的能力

能在阅读难度与课文相仿的书面材料时做笔记、回答问题、写提纲和摘要,能在半小时内就一定的话题、提纲、表格或图示写出180-200词的短文,能写报告、评论、发言稿和日常应用文等,内容完整,文理通顺,表达思想清楚。

5.译的能力

能借助词典将有一定难度的英语文章译成汉语,理解正确,译文达意、语言通顺,译速为每小时400英语单词。能借助词典将题材熟悉的汉语文章译成英语,内容完整,译文达意,语言通顺,译速为每小时350汉字。

二、教学内容、要点和课时安排

本课程阅读材料内容广泛,涉及政治、经济、社会、语言、文学、教育、哲学等方面。通过阅读和分析所选材料,扩老员工知识面,加深员工对社会和人生的理解,培养他们的分析和欣赏能力、逻辑思维与独立思考能力。结合范文,对词汇、修辞、阅读等方面内容进行分析,在巩固和提高员工原有知识的同时,讲授修辞基本知识,以培养员工文体鉴赏能力,了解并掌握英语写作文体的思维方法,英语段落结构及写作方法、英语文章的类别、结构及写作方法,在扩大知识面的同时习得优美的语言。

本课程着重于加强和提高员工的综合技能训练。但本课程不是基础阶段综合技能训练的简单重复。听说读写能力不能再割裂开来作为单项技能训练,而应该作为一个统一体进行训练。听、说、读、写、译应相互配合、相互关联、相互影响。口头讨论要有阅读的基础,但又能加深阅读理解,提高写作水平。写的能力来自于阅读,也有助于口语能力的提高。阅读为员工提供语言素材,是语言学习的源泉。
    教师宜采用启发式教学模式,引导员工独立工作、独立思考,并在有限的篇幅中,给员工以较大的语言输入量,以保证员工有充分的语言摄入量。

三、教学方法

本课程采用课堂教学和课外学习相结合的方法。

课堂教学方法:教师讲解、课堂讨论、小组讨论等。课堂授课以精讲多练为原则,以启发、诱导的方式培养员工独立解决问题的能力,提高语言表达的精确性和流利性。

课外学习形式:由课前准备和课后练习两部分组成。课前准备包括1. Pre-reading questions 通过这个活动使员工熟悉文章涉及的话题、内容,为更好地学习文章做好准备。2. Dictionary work 安排员工自己先做好词汇工作,为教师课堂讲解做准备。3. Library work 让员工从相关的文献资料中寻找相关的知识,以便进一步拓展他们的知识面,并培养他们自我学习的能力。课后练习包括:1. 名家名作的朗诵模仿与背诵。2. 新闻听写。3. 各种体裁和题材的文字材料(由老师自行规定)的阅读及针对相关话题的作文。

四、成绩考核方式

本课程考核采取平时成绩和期末考试成绩相结合的形式,以百分制计算。

平时成绩:出勤情况,100分,占10% 口头陈述, 100分,占20%

期末考试:100分,占70%。测试的内容包括课堂上所学知识,但亦涵盖大纲规定的本阶段应掌握的内容。试卷包括如下各项:词语解释,回答问题,改错,阅读理解,翻译,写作等

出卷与评卷:采取授课教师出卷、集体流水评卷的方法。

五、与其它课程的联系与分工

《高级英语III》是英语专业必修课,其目的是培养员工系统的英语知识,养成员工良好的语言运用习惯,保证他们正确得体使用英语语言进行交际。

六、学时分配
